Wilderness Canoe Tripping
Rainbow Falls![]() Yup, just another water fall. The drop is about 40 feet, but there are lots more falls in a deep, tortuous, narrow canyon above this one, some of them much higher than the one you see here. Canoes and kayaks, keep out. There isn't enough sun to show it here, but the water is slightly turquoise because of the snow fields and glaciers that feed Angus Horne Creek. You can see that the water is a bit silty and dirty. That is caused by the glacial flour, the ground up rock in the water, which causes the turquoise color. There is also a lot of moss and lichen everywhere. Wells Gray Park is in the Cariboo Mountain Range, a very rainy area in British Columbia. We lucked out and had just a little while we were here. It only rained a couple times early in the trip, and not very hard.
