Garnet Falls on Azure Lake

Garnet Falls on Azure Lake.

About two thirds of the way from Rainbow Falls on Azure Lake towards our campsite at Indianpoint Campground, we stopped at Garnet Falls coming in from the north. What you see is actually at least two waterfalls, one above the other, and Garnet Creek is steep enough that there will be lots more falls above these two.

The logs on the bank and sticking up out of the lake bottom (John is holding onto one) are swept down the creek during spring high water. Garnet Creek is fed by the Garnet Glacier and snowfields on Garnet Peak, Tryan Mountain, and Batoche Peak. Garnet Glacier comes down to about the 2300 meter level (7545 feet). Garnet creek is only about three or four miles long. I'll let you whitewater paddlers figure out the gradient.
