Dawson Falls, Murtle River

Dawson Falls on the Murtle River.

Dawson Falls is about a half mile above the Mushbowl. The drop is 40 or 50 feet, and again, kayakers run it. Probably over on river left, which is the right side of the picture. It's a lot of shorter, bumpy ledges over there, not a sheer drop into shallow water like it would be on river right or center.

Again, the rock is all basalt. There are lots of rapids and at least five more falls marked on the map between Dawson Falls and Murtle Lake. It might make a good run, though. Someday.... Portaging some of those waterfalls might be work.
