Rainbow Falls Campground Beach

View west along the beach on Azure Lake at Rainbow Falls Campground.

Looking approximately west of south down the beach in front of the west end of Rainbow Falls Campground. You can't see them very well, but Laurie, Alison and John are there in the shade in front of the campsite we're using. The tents and picnic tables are back in the trees. Angus Horne Creek comes in behind me a couple hundred yards, and there's another smaller creek coming into the lake near that brighter beach on the extreme right side of the picture. It's too far away to see.

The mountain is an unnamed peak about 2300 meters high (7545 feet) northeast of Azure Mountain (2495 meters, 8185 feet), which is hidden behind the one you can see. The smidgen of mountain that is cut off on the right side of the picture is probably Zodiac Mountain, about the same height as Azure and to the west of it. You can see a couple small patches of snow there in a bowl below the summit of the unnamed peak. Zodiac has some, too.

In times of high water (springtime) this whole beach can be underwater. Many campsites have high water marks (pollen lines) on trees and picnic tables, and they can be unusable at such times.
