instruction for proper use of all equipment for canoeing and kayaking, 
especially when such activities can take the paddlers into the 
wilderness, far from help. 

We strongly advise appropriate use and safety instruction and training 
before use of any paddling equipment. Lessons from qualified instructors 
in an organized program offered by a reputable school is highly 
recommended. 

Some general recommendations for selecting canoeing and kayaking 
equipment are included in this Web site. That doesn't mean you will end 
up getting the right equipment, even if you think you take our advice. 
Intended uses can change over time, and equipment bought earlier may not 
be suitable for what you use it for now. Also, equipment bought now may 
not be suitable for future uses.
