Wilderness Canoe Tripping
Upper North River, Image 1
This is a view up the North river above North Lake, picture by Laurie. We're looking a little east of north in this picture. Laurie and Hank had paddled as far up from North Lake as we could, a few hundred yards/meters before being stopped by this shallow rapids. It's about 1.7 river miles (2.7 km) between the lakes. I'm sure most of the river would look like this, very small, and very shallow. The river actually comes out of the right of the picture up out of sight which means the other lake is east of the one we landed on. In fact there are two lakes up there, one is to the left and higher than the one that would be about straight ahead in this view (but out of sight).
