Wilderness Canoe Tripping
Put In Below Falls Image
Laurie took this photo of the place below the falls where we put in. Facing upstream and across the river. You can see we're still in the canyon and we will be for almost the next mile (1.5 km) of paddling. We portaged along the top of that light green lichen above the big rock and basically slid down the hill to the river. Laurie and Hank put in and ran downstream a hundred feet or so, ferrying across the river in the process to miss some big waves on river right (picture left). You can just make John and Dennis (blue life jacket) in their boat just after pushing off and heading on downstream after us.
