North River, Image 1
John and Dennis on the North River just below North Lake. It's a tiny stream up here at the water level most people would be interesting running. The river is bony enough that you don't have time to look at the pretty scenery. A little more water would be okay but very much would start to get pushy and make waves and holes bigger. We didn't have much problem with water in the boat through this area simply because there just was not very much river volume to contend with. Down a couple miles we had picked up a few small side streams which added some water and, at the same time the river got steeper. We had to do some bailing in stretches below the sieve that comes up, but not in here.
