Liard River Log Jam Image
The Liard River has lots of big log jams like this one. Most are very easy to avoid. The beaches are littered with wood, sometimes enough that finding a campsite is not easy. There are lots of trees and parts of trees out in the water -- 'deadheads' they're called. Most are attached to the bottom, usually in shallow water, but not always. The Black River above Black Lake had some, also. We saw very little floating wood in the water, most below the Frances River confluence.
