This is a picture by Laurie standing at the start of our portage around the rapids below Fire Lake. It's a view upstream showing the rapids we ran to get the the beginning of our portage. We could have started our portage farther upstream. Might be necessary for some groups, especially at different water levels. Just below here the river drops much more steeply and goes into a narrow rocky canyon.
