Black Lake Campsite Image 2
A picture of Hank's and Laurie's tentsite on Black Lake looking east along the beach. Hank just had a shower (finally!) and is rinsing sand off his feet. Dennis's tent is about 50 feet (15 meters) behind Laurie who's taking the picture. John's tent is another 50 or more feet behind Dennis's, and the kitchen tarp is beyond that about another 50 feet. There is a narrow, shallow inlet just beyond the tent you see that lets water in behind the campsite. We are actually camped on a low, narrow peninsula that could be much smaller in higher water. The little bay behind camp is also a narrow thing, but there is also a small pond behind it. Lots of bird life and some insect life when the wind wasn't blowing. The tarp is on the edge of the trees which offer some protection for the bugs so there are always more mosquitoes at that end of camp. Not enough soil out here, just sand, so just shrubs have taken root.
