Wilderness Canoe Tripping
Yukon Territory - North/Black/Liard River Canoe Trip, River Distances, MetricBack to List of Lists Metric DistancesTo American US Milage Distance List All distances below should be relatively accurate, but for safety, I would consider everything as approximate. They will be less accurate in and through braided areas. Rivers change course over time, and often every year in braids. What is below should be close enough to give some decent estimates for trip times. The amount of scouting you do in the white water stretches will probably be the biggest time variable. The first column of numbers is the distance in kilometers BETWEEN the point mentioned on that line, and the place named on the line above it. Column two is ascending cumulative distance (in km) from the point named at the top of that leg of the column to the point on this line. (AL = Ascending Leg distance) The third column is the descending cumulative distance, so you know how far it is from a given point to the next lake or junction. These do not include the distances on a lake. (DL = Descending Leg distance) The fourth column is the ascending cumulative distance for the whole trip, and does include lake milages. (AT = Ascending Trip total distance) The fifth column is the descending cumulative distance for the whole trip, and also includes lake milages. (DT = Descending Trip total distance) Add the distances for the upper lakes if you happen to go there. I'm not expecting many people to get up there so they aren't in the totals. * Means that I do not know exact map placement of where something starts or ends. They won't be very far off, and cumulative distances remain the same.
