Location: West of
Moab.
Trip Length: Minimum of 50 miles (80
km), can put in upstream at or near the town of Green River for a 100(?)
mile (160km) trip.
Days recommended: 6 or more
recommended (4 minimum).
Portages: none.
Fly-in trip: No, can drive to
Mineral Bottom.
Fly out: No, you can paddle upstream
on the Colorado River 60 miles to Moab (about 6 days), but most people
hire one of the jetboat shuttle services.
Whitewater: A couple very easy rapids
(class 1+ to 2 at most water levels), some other possible sweeper hazards.
Flatwater: Most of trip.
Current: Reasonably fast at medium to
high water levels, gets lazier when the river is real low (late summer and
fall).
Season: About any time(?) (but no jet
boat shuttle October through March?).
Scenery: Quite spectacular desert
Canyons.
Fishing: ???
Wildlife: Some deer, mountain sheep,
birds, beaver...
